Retro Mutt is a small boutique grooming shop in the heart of Historic Springfield, and it runs on the promise painted across the front window: grooming the way it should be. For your dog, that means a spot all their own, start to finish, with no one else waiting their turn on the table beside them.
While your dog is with me, they have my full attention. There is no crate to sit in and no line to wait through, only a calm room and an easy pace where one person stays with them from the first brush to the last bandana. Most dogs settle in sooner than their owners expect, and every one of them leaves clean, calm, and happy.
I treat grooming as part of your dog’s health, not a luxury. Every service includes a double shampoo, conditioner, ear cleaning, and nail grinding, and none of it is ever quietly added to the bill. Those things are the whole point, not extras. Conditioner protects the skin, clean ears keep infections away, and short nails keep joints comfortable. It is simply the job done right.
I started Retro Mutt to give dogs a place where they are treated like the family they are, gently and patiently and one at a time. Every dog goes home fresh, with a bandana and a little extra spring in their step. That is the way dog grooming should be.

The Treat Counter
Every visit ends at the treat counter. It’s a little shop within the shop, stocked with healthy chews and handmade goodies, so your pup always leaves with something to look forward to and something to take home.
From single ingredient chews to biscuits we ice by hand for the season, everything on the counter is picked with your dog’s health in mind. Have a browse while you wait for pickup, and let your pup choose a prize from the gumball machine on the way out.
